Hot & Sour Corn balls

Not long before, I watched hot and sour mutton balls cooked on a TV show.  I wanted to make them too!  Using mutton at my home is like once in a month, so I just skipped the idea of making them with mutton, instead came up with this vegetarian idea.

This dish came out very delecious and went great with roti/dosa/all sorts of bread, do try and let me know.

Ingredients required

To make the balls
  • 100 gm of grated baby corn (4-5 number)
  • 1 cup of boiled vegetables (Carrot, capsicum, potato)
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 thinly sliced green chillies
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • Cornflour - 1/4 cup
  • Oil, to deep-fry

Others
  • 4 tbspn oil
  • 2 tbspn finely sliced garlic
  • 5-6 spring onion bulbs, finely sliced (Reserve the green part for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup of quartered capsicum
  • 1/4 tsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbspn of chilli sauce
  • 2-4 tbspn of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp vinegar
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Method

Finely grate baby corn and boiled vegetables into an bowl, also add other ingredients given under corn balls section.

With greased hands, finely mash them, make balls out of them.

Deep-fry the balls, keep aside.  On other hand you can also steam or bake them.

In the same kadaai, reserve oil and add sliced garlic.  Saute till they turn golden brown.

This is followed by adding spring onion bulb and capsicum quarters.

Also add in sauces, keep stirring as well.

Now add in fried corn balls, required amount of salt and switch off them flame.  Take care to add them before serving so that gravy consistency is found

Enjoy with your parathas!
