Strawberry Trifle shots

For my potluck party, this month,  I decided to go for dessert.  What else can I settle for my awesome bloggermates??  :P  Yes, dedicating strawberry trifle shots for an rocking party...

'Trifle' is an dessert made by layering of sponge cake, custard, jelly, fruits and finally whipped cream is used as an garnish here.  I, utilized this humble opportunity to clear my lazy strawberries resting @ refrigerator :P  :P   With an bit of planning, you can, also make them instantly. (Apart from whipped cream, which does not come at handy...)  I made mine at shot glasses and hence the name :)

At home, everybody feasted on them.  The crumbled cake-base went well with with sour jam and sweet custard.  I am planning to make them quite often :P

Preparation time:  45 minutes (Including preparation of whipped cream)
Cooking time : 15 minutes (For custard)
Serves: 4

Ingredients required

  • Cake, crumbled - 60 gm pack (I used Brittania  mixed fruits pack, you can use vanilla or strawberry too)
  • Custard (Made from one cup of mik, 1 tbspn custard powder and 1 tbspn sugar)
  • Strawberry jam , 3/4 cup
  • Finely chopped strawberries, 1 cup
  • Whipped cream, to garnish

 Method

For Custard, dissolve custard powder in one tbspn of milk, rest milk is brought into boil.  When milk reaches boiling consistency, add custard-milk paste along with sugar.  Stir them continously and when sauce thickens, switch off the flame.  Cover them with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Take the jam and blend them in processor with 1 tsp of hot water, keep aside.
Take your required cups, add crumbled cake and push them beneath the glasses.  Now pour into blended jam as second layer.  As soon as you do this, refrigerate for jam layer to set.

After refrigeration, pour cooled custard as third layer, refrigerate them again.

Add chopped straberries and top with whipped cream.

Garnish with strawberry slice, if preferred :)   Enjoy!
