Hot dog- wraps

     Making wraps/rolls are always in my pending list.  Finally made them this weekday,  must say that this hot dog styled wraps were awesome.  Selected vegetables were mashed, shaped like hot dogs and  were grilled.  This was wrapped in roti with prepared green mayonnaise sauce along with thinly sliced vegetables.  Altogether this wrap was an heavenly combination.

Kids would love to grab them, so did Varsha :D  If you are willing, you can also dash in barbeque sauce, mustard sauce and can serve like 'subway' type.  Most importantly, these wraps are healthy and goes heavy on your stomach.  You can prepare the hot dogs the day before and can refrigerate overnight, if you felt them time-consuming.  I prepared them mildly, so that my kid could consume, you could also prepare them spicy as you wish.  So, why wait to experiment :D :P  Just do it :)

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time:  1 hour 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients required

For vegetable hot dogs
  • 1/2 cup crumbled paneer
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup boiled potato
  • 1 tbspn grated cauliflower
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 1 tbpsn finley chopped beans
  • 1/2 cup grated cabbage
  • 1 tbspn garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
For green mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 green chilly, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
For roti
  • 2.5 cups of wheat flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Water, as required (mostly 1-1.2 cups)
  • Cabbage, capsicum, carrots, thinly sliced


Mix all ingredients under hot dogs and shape them like thick, long cylinder.  Shallow fry/ grill them at 220 degree Celsius for about twenty five minutes or till done. 

These are done, the above measurements yielded seven hot dogs. 
For green mayonnaise, blend coriander leaves, green chillies, salt and mayo together and set aside.  Meanwhile, knead the dough with stirring salt into wheat flour and gradually adding water.  Divide the dough into eight balls.  Each ball is rolled into thick circles (Don't roll too thin because while placing filling they make break).  This is cooked on inverted tawa on both sides till brown spots appear. 

For the assembly, place roti, drizzle in green mayo sauce.  Place one hot dog and scatter some vegetables over them. 

Working towards the bottom, fold the roti upwards like in pic. 

Similarly fold both the sideways and quickly roll into foil/prick toothpick

Serve them hot or microwave few minutes before serving :)
