Pottukadalai laddu - 5 ingredient fix

Hi!  Anybody watching, '5 ingredient fix' at Fox traveller?  I, surely do.  It is so amazing how the host prepares a range of dishes with only five ingredients each.  This pottukadalai laddu is dedicated to the same tag :)  Not only this laddu charms us with handy ingredients, but requires very minimal time, making them a stress-free dessert to do.

This, is my kid's favourite and everytime I make them, she jumps with joy.  Not only this pottukadalai is an good source of energy, but is also advisable remedy for excessive menstrual phase.  This whole batch required only 4 tbsp of ghee/ clarified butter.  So, this can be considered an healthier dessert as well.

Motichoor laddu - Diwali sweet

Back at Chennai, my MIL  always prepares boondhi laddu and my baby used to gobble them up.  So, I asked myself why not try some?  But, apart from boondhi laddu, I liked motichoor laddu that hangs around every sweet shop.  Garnished with silver varq and opped with nuts, these are most delicious and one will definitely experience  melt in mouth moment.

Originally hailing from Central Bihar, Motichoor laddu (Moti means pearl) are nothing but deep-fried gramflour, mixed in sugar syrup, flavoured with saffron threads, rose water, nuts and shaped into laddu.  Though they look like boondhi laddu, the methodology differ because motichoor laddu are fried till they reach pale yellow/golden colour and is removed.  And after soaking in sugar syrup they are mixed with warm water and is blended once which is not the same with boondhi laddu.  Warm water, thus added aids in much softer texture to motichoor laddu comparing to later.

Yes, my daughter loved it and better half was completely impressed.  Apart from the fact that they turned successful, they consume lesser time too!!  About one batch can be done within an hour, isn't it an boon? :D  Follow the entire post for tips

Milk aur badami laddu

This yummy laddu was quite delicious... do try with home-made khoya

Ingredients required:

  • one cup khoya
  • half cup of powdered almonds
  • pinch of cardamon
  • 2-3 tsp of sugar

Method:

In a large vessel, mix khoya with sugar and cardamon powder.  Mix the dough well and knead it.  Wait till the sugar dissolves well with dough

Then with oil-greased hands, roll them into tiny laddos and roll them over powdered badams.  Serve at room temperature.  Can also be stored in refrigerator for a week. [Better to let others finish these laddos, coz cant rely on refrigerator on these frequent power-cuts  :) :) lol  ]
