Spaghetti with meat sauce

Spaghetti is thin, long pasta from Italy.  Here, I used dried form of spaghetti packet, made of wheat durum semolina.  Spaghetti is topped usually with tomato sauce, with herbs like basil and oregano.  Here, I used meat sauce and the result was awesome.  The basic sauce, I used was Maggi's instant pasta sauce.  If you want an home-made one, click here

Since, this was my first Italian association, I followed each steps carefully.  These spaghetti were a bit denser than our instant noodles.  I cooked them till they were completely done and it went good with sauce.  They were heavy on stomach. One bite topped with sauce was completely heavenly.  I added both meat and vegetables here, vegetarians can replace the same amount of meat with additional mushrooms.

They can also be topped with parmesan cheese, though I didn't opt it here.  It would surely be a kids-friendly.  They must be served hot from stove. These are apt for an ideal weekday lunch when you have trouble to make last-minute meal :) These get cooked easily, even with basic sauce (ie without veggies or meat) these spaghetti tastes delicious.

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves: 1

Ingredients required

  • 1 tbspn Amul lite butter (Olive oil is originally used here)
  • 4-5 garlic pods, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbspn finely chopped onions
  • 1 cup of thinly sliced vegetables like mushroom, carrot, capsicum
  • 1 cup of minced meat (mutton) along with stock (pre-cooked till done)
  • 1/2 cup of Maggi's instant pasta sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes (If desired)
  • 100 gm of spaghetti
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 litre of water (for cooking spaghetti)

Method

Heat butter in a pan, stir till melted.  Add garlic and sauté till they turn brown.  Add onions and sauté.  Finally throw in vegetables and give an gentle stir.  Cook for another five minutes till veggies turn soft.

Now add meat along with stock.  Simmer till everything combines.

Now, add 1/2 cup of pasta sauce.

Add salt, pepper, red chilly flakes and check the seasoning.

Keep them aside.  You can reheat the sauce a bit when pouring over the spaghetti.

Now,  you can cook spaghetti according to the instructions given in packet.

I heated one litre of water.  When water started to boil, added 100 gm of spaghetti sticks and 1 tsp sea salt.

Slowly, spaghetti sticks softens and goes all into the vessel.  We have to cook for another ten to fifteen minutes.

Check them after ten minutes, mine got done after fifteen.  As soon as it is done, pour them over colander.

Now, transfer spaghetti into serving plate and top with sauce.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Happy cooking :)  :)
