This harira, an milk extracted from poppy seeds/khuskhus is an energizing drink usually suggested for new mothers in order to increase their lactation. Ingredients required
- 1/4 cup khus khus/poppy seeds
- 7-8 cashewnuts
- 1 tsp basmati rice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamon powder
- Water, as needed
Method
Soak khus khus along with cashew, rice for 2 hours. Grind them along with water. Filter the extract through an fine muslin cloth to collect the milk. Repeat the same process till you get third step of filtering. Now discard the extract
In an pan, add milk with sugar and cardamon powder. Stir in well in simmer flame till sugar melts. Then switch off the flame, this should be 1-2 minutes because the extracted milk is too delicate. More than heating will result in milk separation
Super delecious harira now ready to be served!!! :)
